Prices

All of the main prices shown are in USD. Underneath those are the approximate AUD (my local currency) equivilent. The AUD prices are only applicable to Australian residents whom are paying directly through bank transfer. All other orders are to be paid in USD through ⇾ Ko-fi (PayPal). Payment is usually required upfront, regardless of payment method, although payment plans can be discussed. Trades are occasionally open by request only to friends. Please do not ask for free work.

All commissions, with the exception of sketches, will typically be completed within 2 weeks. Although, as my disabilities and chronic health conditions flare up from time to time, this can sometimes be extended up to a month. In these cases, you will almost always be informed beforehand.

My artistic focus is animals. Pets, wild creatures, mythical beings, and anthropomorphic characters are all examples of what I paint. Anything with a human or very human-like face is not my area of expertise and not something I will paint for you. Sorry! More information on what I will and won't paint can be found in the FAQ section.

➤ Lined "Sketch": $20 +

$30+ AUDA fast commission - typically finished within a day where possible - that includes linework and one or two simple colours. This will usually include one main greyscale colour for the main portion of the subject and another colour for the eyes or an aspect you may want to highlight such as coat pattern. If you buy one of these, I can finish it and turn it into a colored piece at a later date for you. Just message me to organise it and pay the difference!

➤ Coloured Portrait: $40 +

$60+ AUDA portrait, typically of the shoulders up - fully painted and shaded. It will be painted in my style, as shown. It can also contain simple background elements like stars or other patterns at no extra charge.Darker themes and palettes are where my work thrives. Please make sure you have looked at my work and decided it suits your needs (or wants) before going ahead with your commission request. Thank you!Price is approximate (prior to quote) and will increase for things such as complexity, props (+ $10), backgrounds (+ $30), or additional characters ( +100%).

➤ Coloured Half Body: $50 +

$75+ AUDA painting that is usually of the hips or chest upwards - although in certain poses this may be the price range of entire pets/animals (such as loafing on the couch). It is fully painted and shaded. It will be painted in my style, as shown. It can also contain simple background elements like stars or other patterns at no extra charge.Price is approximate (prior to quote) and will increase for things such as complexity, props (+ $10), backgrounds (+ $30), or additional characters ( +100%).

➤ Coloured Full Body: $60 +

$90+ AUDAs the name suggests, this is a painting of the subject entirely - from head to toe (or tail / wings / other). It will be painted in my style, as shown. It can also contain simple background elements like stars or other patterns at no extra charge.Price is approximate (prior to quote) and will increase for things such as complexity, props (+ $10), backgrounds (+ $30), or additional characters ( +100%).

The Process

Once you decide what you'd like painted - or have an idea you'd like to expand on - go ahead and message me on your preferred platform or fill out my COMMISSIONS FORM (which I'll direct you to anyway). I am available on Bluesky, Discord, Ko-fi, DeviantArt, and Instagram. We'll discuss your idea, see if it's a good fit for my art style, and organise payment. Once it's paid, I can get started!Anywhere from a few hours to a few days later, I will message you with an initial sketch. This sketch will give the basic idea of your painting. Give it a look, let me know what works and what doesn't. We want to work together to make the art YOU want. There is often quite a bit of back and forth here as we get it right but, once it's good, make sure to let me know. This is often the longest part of a commission - waiting to hear back from one another.

I do not begin the next stage, at any point, without your approval of the current one. Please be clear in this. Say 'approved', or 'good to continue', or something that undoubtedly lets me know I can continue. A thumbs up or 'awesome' doesn't let me know if you need anything changed or if you want me to continue with the next step.

From here I will work on the line art. Again, once it it done, I will message you with a preview. Make sure to check it carefully and let me know if anything needs fixing before approving the lines. You are limited to ⁺2 line change requests before an additional fee will be incurred. Once you have approved it, we ⋆cannot go back and make revisions to them.I will then broardly map out the colours and show you for approval. This is typically very rough and messy looking colouring. Don't worry, it will be neatened up as I continue. This step is just to ensure I am using the right colours before I spend many hours painting the finished piece for you. These will typically just be flat colours - not showing highlights or shadows - except in cases where dramatic lighting is part of the main focus. Again, please check the colours carefully. Much like with the lines, you are limited to ⁺2 colour change requests before there will be an additional fee. Likewise, ⋆colours cannot be changed once approved.Once the layout, posing, lines, and colours have all been approved the next thing you will receive is the finished piece. If you have any special requets for the background - something simple like stars, a feature circle, a pattern, a specific colour, or a border - please try to let me know beforehand. That way I can incorperate it as nicely as possible. Finally, I will send you the finished piece. Does anything need fixing? Let me know and, if it's approved at this final step, I will send you a link for a HD download. Here, in most cases, you will receive 2 versions - one regular and one with a transparent background. That way you can use it easily as you see fit (within the terms, of course).

IMPORTANT NOTES

⁺ Please note that '2 change requests' does not mean only 2 literal changes are allowed. Rather, think of it as more '2 messages' - although it can be multiple messages within the span of about 30 minutes. You can request as many reasonable edit requests within those messages as are needed. We will then have a back and forth chat as we get those features correct for you. Each stage (lines and colour draft) allow for 2 changes each, for a total of 4. Don't worry about not requesting changes at one stage in fear of needing them later. Changing the entire work, assuming the sketch was approved and the initial lines finished, will also incur this fee.⋆ Colours and lines cannot typically be changed once they are approved. However, if I make a mistake such as forgetting details entirely like a necklace or colour pattern, then I will fix it up for you with no fee. I try to follow references as best as possible but sometimes minor details can be missed. If you notice I've forgotten something, just let me know ASAP

TATTOO DESIGNS

My tattoo design commissions are simular to that of my regular paintings. You can apply through my COMMISSIONS FORM. I will work with you to give you what you want. You will receive work in progress photos at each stage to request edits. And they need to be animal or object focused - no humans. However, there are few key differences.

PRICE

Tattoo designs are harder to price as they vary so wildly from one design to another. All prices listed here are rough approximations to help give you an idea of what to expect. To get an exact (obligation free) quote, please message me with your idea.Typically, in most cases, your design will cost ~$50 USD. These will usually consist of one "focus" area with supporting decoration and design surrounding it.Prices can be as low as $20 USD for simple designs, such as an outline with minimal (if any) shading, and may be upwards of $100 USD for complex designs or designs with multiple areas of focus or characters.

COLOUR

Unlike my regular art commissions, my tattoo designs are black and greywash only. Although you may request a small amount of colour - like an eye - in some circumstances.

DESIGN ELEMENTS

I have a very particular style - especially when it comes to tattoo designs. I will not mimic or replicate anothers work and/or style. Before requesting my work, make sure my style fits with what you want.

THE PROCESS

IMPORTANT NOTES

Just as with my other work, payment must be made upfront prior to starting. While tattoo designs are far more flexible than regular commissions, allowing for more changes, there are still additional fees for doing so in excess.Typically speaking, the sketch stage allows for as many changes as you need. We can go through multiple design ideas - combing them together or restarting - until we find one that fits your idea or vision. However, if we go through several sketches and you then change your mind to want a totally different idea than was first proposed, an additional fee will be charged and must be paid before we continue. As an example, in the above work that outlines the process, the client could have requested the brain be changed to a heart. Or perhaps that one of the rabbits be a squirril instead. Those would be small changes that still keep with the origional concept. However, if they instead requested that they would like a design of a horse wearing a cowboy hat, that would incur the additional fee for changes. If you're unsure, ask. Asking is always fine.

My tattoo, of my own design, freshly done.

Additionally, please note that I am not a tattoo artist. Buying a tattoo commission does not include the price of the tattoo itself. You will need to see a tattoo artist in your area and have that much done at your own cost and convenience. All you are purchasing from me is the design itself.Lastly, please make sure to read the TERMS AND CONDITIONS as they apply to tattoo designs as well. In commissioning me for a tattoo design (or any other art), you are agreeing to these terms. The only real difference with tattoo commissions relates to the watermark. Please don't get that part of the design on your body. That is why I include a "lines only" version. Thanks!

TERMS & CONDITIONS

When you purchase a commission from me - including gifts, art trades, and simular - you are not buying publishing nor sale rights. You can print the art for your own personal use, such as on a mug or shirt, but cannot make or sell merchandise of my art. If you wish to having publishing rights, please contact me. They can be purchased for an additional fee.Additionally, you are agreeing to never input said art into any form of AI training software. These conditions - both in relation to publishing rights and AI use - include finished works but also extend to work in progress images like sketches and linework. When posting your commissioned art online - including unfinished stages - credit (@ThembieMoth) is appreciated but not required. Just don't claim to have made the art yourself.Aside from removing the watermark, which you must not do, you can edit the completed work however you like. While the copyright remains mine, the art belongs to you. Do what you want with it in that regard. You don't need to ask permission, assuming it does not conflict with the above prior terms.

Frequently Asked questions

➤ "Do you offer payment plans?" Yes, although these are tyically reserved for larger pieces. If you would like to discuss this though, please message me and I'll see if we can work something out together. For larger paintings, I offer a 50/50 payment plan as standard - 50% of the cost is due upfront. The other 50% is due before completion. If payment is not finalized, the finished art will not be released to you and you forfeit all rights to it.

➤ "What payment methods do you accept?" In the vast majority of cases, I use Ko-fi. It is powered by PayPal, readily available to folks in most countries, and easy to use without signup being necessary. If you are an Australian resident, you also have the choice of paying directly through bank transfer. While my default currency is USD, AUD prices are available for these purposes.

➤ "Do you do art trades?" Sometimes, yes. Generally only with friends though. If you would like to do a trade, feel free to reach out. It doesn't have to be a direct 1:1 art trade either. I can paint you art, you can supply me with another good or service. An important note though is that, unless agreed upon beforehand, trades are prioritized below paid work. If we have an art trade in progress, then I suddenly get an influx of paid commissions, I will finish the commissions before continuing with our trade.

➤ "Your prices are too high!" My prices are based on the time I typically spend on each piece (not including indirect work + time) and the minimum wage where I live. I value my time, skills, and the effort I put in. For example, a portrait will typically take me about 5 hours. At the current local minimum wage, that is $124.75 of work. I charge $60. Larger pieces take 12+ hours to paint - that is $299.40+ of hourly wages. The most I charge ever for a single painting is ~$150 (prices listed here specifically are in AUD). My prices aren't too high, they're just out of your budget.

➤ "Your prices are too low!" Yeah, probably.

➤ "Do you offer rush orders?" Sort of? I'll be honest, I wouldn't recommend it. They cost more, require you to be active and ready to approve each stage quickly, and can turn out less than great. While, yeah, I can technically pump out art faster for you, it's also not going to be as good quality. The vibes have to be right for art to be good. Or at least mine does. If I try to paint and the vibes aren't right, the art is going to suffer for it. So, yes. I can technically rush your order but I would recommend instead just ordering ahead of time where possible for the best possible result.

➤ "Will you paint my character in a NSFW situation?" Generally speaking, yes. So long as the character is of age for their species, able to consent (see the Harkness test), and isn't partaking in anything illegal then it's usually okay for me to paint. Likewise, fetish content can sometimes be alright as well - although this is more of a case by case basis. If you are unsure or just want to check, feel free to message me about it. It's a no judgement zone here, even if it ends up being something I can't or won't paint for you. Do keep in mind though that my artistic focus is more animals and anthropomorphic characters. I do not paint humans.

➤ "Can you paint X, Y, Z for free because <inset sad story here>?" No.

➤ "What about for exposure? I have a lot of followers." No.

➤ "Can I get a refund?" There are situations in which I offer refunds. These include times that I end up in hospital or am otherwise unwell suddenly. Although rare, it does happen. In these cases, I will message you and ask if you would like a full refund or if you would like to wait. If you purchased your commission at a time when I had made it publicly known there would be a planned medical trip upcoming and there would therefor be delays, this offer does not apply. Other times you may receive a refund are situations where I may be unable to complete your request for any reason - although this has yet to happen. Otherwise, no. When you commission me, you are hiring me for my work and skills as is. All of my work is publicly available to view and it is up to you before purchasing a commission to decide if my style is right for you.
